The best GMT for the money?

When looking at the best GMTs on the market in relation to their respective weights, the Longines Spirit Zulu Time Titanium and the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight GMT have to be at the top of your list.

The two are almost exactly the same size, with the Tudor being 0.7mm thinner and the Longines 1mm shorter from lug to lug. The Longines beats the Tudor in terms of quality materials thanks to its Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet and ceramic bezel insert (the Tudor uses stainless steel and aluminum respectively), while the METAS certification of the Tudor movement goes further than the COSC certification of the Longines.

The Longines has a seven-hour power reserve, while the Tudor is twice as waterproof and more resistant to magnetic fields. The Tudor has a quick-adjust clasp, while the Longines has a quick-change bracelet.

It’s a damn close race that will probably come down to two factors for most buyers: looks and price. Both watches are beautiful, with the Tudor leaning heavily toward vintage and the Longines looking more modern. The Longines is more affordable, with a suggested retail price of $4,275. The Tudor is $4,400 with a rubber strap and $4,600 with the bracelet.

Honestly, it’s too close to predict. I like them both and can’t wait to see who strikes next in this budding rivalry.
