Mr Searcher will have a new rider for his start next Saturday in the Grade 2 Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar.

Daily Race Form reported that Joe Talamo will have the horse in the six-year-old’s first start since finishing third in the Dubai World Cup (G1) in March. In the previous race, Señor Buscador won the Saudi Cup, his only Grade 1 victory.

Talamo, who has been working with Señor Buscador since training resumed in the spring, will replace Junior Alvarado, the report said. Coach Todd Fincher said DRF that Alvarado has commitments for next Saturday, including America’s Vow in Alabama (G1).

On Friday at Santa Anita, Señor Buscador ran five furlongs in 59.20 seconds, the second fastest of 46 at that distance. Fincher said DRF Mineshaft’s son is “not a very good workhorse,” but Friday’s exercise was “excellent.”

Fincher said Señor Buscador could launch a campaign in late summer and fall and is slated for the California Crown (G1) on Sept. 28 and the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Señor Buscador has a career record of 19: 7-2-3 and earnings of $12,696,427.

Pat O’Brien has already received a commitment from trainer Eric Kruljac to enter The Chosen Vron. With a winning streak of six races, he automatically qualifies for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
