NYT “Connections” August 11: Answer and clues for game #427

Connections was founded by The New York Times in 2023 after the newspaper’s amazing success with Wordlea play on words that it bought in January 2022 from New York software developer Josh Wardle.

After his release Connections A loyal following quickly developed throughout the English-speaking world, including some players who share their results and advice daily on social media.

How to play “Connections”

Every day, Connections Players are presented with 16 words and their task is to classify them into four categories based on common characteristics.

The four categories are all color-coded to indicate their level of difficulty. Yellow is the easiest category, followed by green, blue and purple. Players select four words at a time. When these connect together to form one of the four categories, they light up and are removed from the board. At this point, their color is also revealed, showing how difficult quizzers expected that connection to be.

If a player guesses incorrect word groups four times, the game is over and he is defeated. There is no time limit for the puzzle.

The player can shuffle the board at any time so that the 16 words are randomly rearranged.

Accordingly Connections Editor Wyna Liu, if you have five cards that all seem to belong in the same category, your best move is probably to find another category and then go back to the original category after some words have been eliminated.
