Guinness World Records recently announced a new world record in the category Most game consoles are connected to a single TV. Game collector Ibrahim Al-Nasser managed to connect all of his game consoles to just one television.
According to the video posted on YouTube, there were 444 different consoles, ranging from the Magnavox Odyssey (which was the first home game console in 1972) to the PlayStation 5 Slim (which Sony would release in 2023).
Al-Nasser’s console collection is impressive not only because of its size, but also because he owns a very rare system called the Super A’can, a fourth-generation console from 1995 that was only available for a short time in Taiwan. (Only 12 games were released for it!)
Take a look inside Al-Nasser’s playroom
In the Guinness World Records video, Al-Nasser gives us a glimpse into his gaming room, where we see his setup: a total of 12 HDMI switches and 30 RCA switches, so he can switch back and forth between the many gaming consoles when needed.
The TV itself only has four HDMI inputs, so Al-Nasser keeps an Excel spreadsheet in which he records which buttons he has to press if he wants to play on a particular console.
Surprisingly, there are no cables to be seen anywhere, which indicates excellent cable management. “I used all the tools available on the market to organize the cables,” explains Al-Nasser.
Al-Nasser’s favorite game console
When asked which game console is “the best game console of all time,” Al-Nasser has a clear answer as he kisses his Sega Genesis, the 16-bit game console that Sega released in the late 1980s.
In the near future, Al-Nasser will probably have to think about how to integrate newer consoles. We expect the PlayStation 5 Pro and Nintendo Switch 2 to be released in 2025, and Microsoft is also likely to launch an improved Xbox Series X.
