EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewaletold the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja: “Our X account is temporarily unavailable due to an ongoing upgrade. We will be back up and running soon.
“When a system is upgraded, it may be temporarily unavailable. We are performing the upgrade to provide a better service to the public.
“You can see that the Commission’s other social media pages are still functional.”
He said the anti-corruption agency was also updating its records on the account.
“Our account has not been hacked. It will be back up and running soon,” he said.
Checks by NAN on Thursday revealed that the landing page of the account, which had over two million followers, reads: “No results were found for the term you entered. Please try again later.”
However, the agency’s website and other social media pages such as Facebook and Instagram are functional.
NAN reports that there may be several reasons why accounts on the platform may be inaccessible.
These include a poor internet connection, a cleared cache, suspicious usage/hacking attempts, and even flagging the handle for violating X-policies.
