Lead author of “Star Wars Eclipse” leaves Quantic Dream

The long-in-development video game star Wars darkness has just lost its lead writer. Adam Williams, head writer at Quantic Dream, announced on LinkedIn that he has left his position to start a new, as yet unannounced studio. Williams worked on both Detroit: Becoming Human And Star Wars: The Force Awakens before ending his nearly 10-year tenure at Quantic Dream.

In his post, Williams explained that he is forming a new studio with other developers to work on a new, yet-to-be-announced project. It seems that his departure was amicable between him and Quantic Dream. However, it is also unclear how this will affect darkness or the current state of development of the game. Nevertheless, Williams expresses his appreciation to both Lucasfilm and Quantic Dream:

“After nearly 10 years at Quantic Dream, I am leaving the company to start a new studio together with a group of very talented designers and developers.

We can’t give too much away yet. We’re working on something very innovative, very special and very secret for now. More on that soon.

I’ve already reached out to many of you at Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm to thank you for everything on Detroit and Eclipse. It’s been a great adventure.

A big thank you to the team who took this step with us and to the investors who are the ideal partners for the next adventure. More on that soon.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was first announced in 2021 at the Game Awards in the form of a CGI trailer. Since then, fans have not seen anything of the game. In 2023, a developer of the game stated that darkness is still simmering and insisted that the game will be released as soon as it is ready.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the first star Wars Game set in the High Republic era. Developers have already described darkness as something typical of a Quantic Dream game, with branching narratives, multiple characters and big stories. But soon after the announcement, rumors started to circulate that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was faced with development problems. There is no official release window yet.
