BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – The Satellite Scorpions will host the defending state champions, who have defended their title two years in a row.n Cocoa Tigers for the opening classic on Friday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00

Space Coast Daily’s Juan Rodriguez and Terry Spain will be live, providing live coverage and post-game interviews.

Satellite enters its third season under head coach Brian Helton and looks to build on last year’s 5-6 season.

Meanwhile, the Cocoa Tigers come to town and begin their journey to become three-time state champions.

The Satellite Scorpions will host the reigning state champions Cocoa Tigers in the opening classic on Friday. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. Juan Rodriguez and Terry Spain of Space Coast Daily will be live and provide match reports and post-game interviews.

This year’s coverage on Space Coast Daily TV will once again feature a dynamic broadcast schedule. It was the first official media outlet to bring live radio and television coverage of prep football to Brevard County.

Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame members Steve Wilson and Orville Susong of Friday Night Locker Room will once again bring you all the live action from the announcer’s booth. Additionally, Tom Palermo, Jim Palermo, Giles Malone, Zach Clark, Juan Rodriguez, Terry Spain, JC Meyerholz, Matt O’Hern, Gavin Keith and Brian Dillon will host or produce live broadcasts this season.

The Space Coast Daily team brings you the best news and sports coverage from Brevard County. This is the fourth decade of high school sports coverage for the principals of Space Coast daily and the dressing room on Friday evening.

In 1997, Dr. Jim Palermo, now editor-in-chief of Space Coast dailyand Tom Palermo, now Space Coast daily President and publisher, commentated on the first-ever Brevard County high school football game on the radio.

From 1997 to 2000, the Palermo brothers commentated on high school football games on WMEL. Below is a clip from the August 26, 1999 edition of Space Coast Press Newspaper owned and published by Tom Palermo. Gannett bought the Press from Palermo in July 2000.

“One of the most memorable moments during those years was when we broadcast the 2000 state championship game between Palm Bay and Dillard from the Swamp in Gainesville to Brevard,” said Jim Palermo.

Dan Burke’s Palm Bay Pirates defeated Dillard 10-6 to win the 6A title that year.

Starting in 2001, the Palermos turned over the reins of the broadcasts to the Friday Night Locker Room team. Friday Night Locker Room has been in continuous operation ever since, and Steve Wilson and Orville Susong are beginning their 23rd full season as hosts of sports prep broadcasts on the Space Coast.

In 2012 Space Coast daily and the Friday Night Locker Room have partnered to provide Brevard County with unique, comprehensive and state-of-the-art multimedia coverage of youth and high school sports including football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, track and field, wrestling, bowling and more.

Always the innovators who Space Coast daily – The Friday Night Locker Room team provided Space Coast sports fans with the first web livestreams and live game coverage on Facebook and is committed to being the leading provider of multimedia sports coverage on the Space Coast for years to come.
