Since her nomination a few weeks ago, Kamala Harris has crisscrossed the country and led rallies, but she has not given press interviews or made public the policy positions she intends to run on. Perhaps that’s not too surprising given the circumstances, as American voters will surely want to know at some point what she stands for (aside from being Donald Trump’s opponent).
Unfortunately, California gun owners know exactly where she stands on the Second Amendment. In her recent campaign appearances, Harris continues to support a gun control agenda that includes red flag laws and bans on so-called “assault weapons.” These positions date back to her time in the Senate and during her failed attempt to win the Democratic nomination in 2020, and she makes her stance clear in this town hall meeting.
Harris is the embodiment of the blue resistance we so often fight against. Blustery but largely empty rhetoric condemning guns themselves, supporting bad policies like “sanctuary cities,” a willful disregard for anti-crime policies like “Jessica’s Law,” and leniency toward real criminals. But she has led a crackdown on truancy to burnish her credibility as a “progressive prosecutor,” so that’s something.
