Last chance to ride the Old School Train in Oklahoma this weekend

Every year, the Oklahoma Railway Museum in Oklahoma City hosts weekend rides on its classic trains. This weekend, Saturday, August 17, is the last day of summer you can hop on the express.

What awaits you

A comfortable and beautiful journey with the historic locomotives and passenger carriages awaits you.

Remember to arrive on time as passengers must be in their seats 15 minutes before departure. The train leaves the depot at 3 different times:

To ensure you get the full, authentic train travel experience, you need to buy your ticket and make sure you’re seated properly when you board. After all, trains really are a big deal.

There are options for wheelchair users to join the ride, you just need to speak to the ticket counter when you arrive to purchase your tickets.

Other ways to travel by train

When the train closes for the summer, the Railroad Museum staff prepares for the highlights of fall and winter: the Halloween ride and the Polar Express.

For the Halloween ride, think less of “Harry Potter” and more of “Halloweentown” vibes. By the time you get ready for the ride, the fall foliage should already be out, so you can expect some gorgeous views through the windows.

The Polar Express ride is the most popular ride all year round and tickets have already started selling. If you want an authentic Polar Express experience, it’s best to buy your tickets early.

Even though the train stops running during the summer, the museum still has plenty of other exhibits and opportunities to browse. If you’re not there on Saturday, be aware that it will be a month or two before the next opportunity arises.
