“Write It Into Existence”: THIS is what Channing Tatum has to say about reviving his Gambit role in the MCU

Channing Tatum shot into the limelight when he played the role of Gambit in the well-received MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor has had long talks with the creators over the years to play the role of Gambit on screen. However, it wasn’t until Deadpool & Wolverine that Tatum got the chance to play his superhero character. After his remarkable performance, fans are excited to see whether or not they will see Channing Tatum in his solo film Gambit.

Channing Tatum’s history with the character Gambit goes back decades. The actor was first approached for the role in 2009, but due to his busy schedule, the role went to Taylor Kitsch. Luckily, however, the Step Up star got to play the character in the recently released Deadpool & Wolverine, earning critical acclaim. Tatum’s performance was well-received by audiences, making him a fan favorite.

During his interview with Variety, the actor was asked whether or not he was in talks with the makers of his solo film. Tatum responded quite positively, delighting fans as he expressed his great interest in reprising the role.

“I really hope so. From your mouth to God’s ears. Write it into life, my friend. Please. (Of course) I said it. I’ve been saying for 10 years that I want it. It’s in Bob Iger’s and Kevin Feige’s hands. I pray to God,” Tatum explained.

Channing Tatum was close to getting his solo Gambit movie in the past. In 2014, Fox announced Tatum would star in the solo Gambit movie, but the project never came to fruition. It is also important to note that Fox ultimately struggled with superhero projects, with films like -Men: Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, and The New Mutants not being received as positively. All of these setbacks further reduced the chances of a solo Gambit project.

Years-long efforts to produce Gambit movies were officially halted when Disney purchased Fox in 2019. Now that Gambit has officially appeared in the MCU, the decision to create a solo Gambit project is in Marvel Studios’ hands. But the chances of that happening seem pretty slim, as Marvel is already jam-packed with its other superhero projects.

It remains to be seen if Tatum’s decade-long efforts to create a solo Gambit project will ever come to fruition. Fans, however, still seem pretty excited to see Channing Tatum in his solo Gambit project. Until then, you can enjoy Tatum’s performance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, currently in theaters.
