“The Left and Ram want to create unrest…” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata (West Bengal) (India), August 15 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the Left is working with the Ram (Bharatiya Janata Party) to create unrest in West Bengal.

“Left and Ram want to create unrest in Bengal and have joined hands for this purpose,” she said, referring to the act of vandalism at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday.

The Bengal Chief Minister said the mob had no connection with the student movement and claimed it was “people from the BJP” who had created a ruckus in the hospital’s emergency room.

“The people who vandalised RG Kar Hospital yesterday and created this ruckus have no connection with the RG Kar Medical College student movement. They are outsiders. I have seen so many videos that I can only see three videos. In them, some people are holding national flags. They are BJP people and some are DYFI and are holding white-red flags,” CM Banerjee said.

On Wednesday evening, a mob entered the RG Kar Hospital premises and caused damage to the protest site, vehicles and public property, forcing security officials to intervene to disperse the crowd.

Banerjee also praised the police for their restraint during the incident and said, “Yesterday, policemen were attacked; among them were a Deputy Commissioner (DC), who was there for security reasons, and two Officer-in-charges (OCs). They could not be found for an hour and when they were found, they were unconscious and blood was seen oozing from their heads. I informed the police at 3 am and got them taken to Apollo Hospital… I want to congratulate them for not losing patience and not hurting anyone.” “Now the case is not in our hands but in the hands of the CBI. If you have anything to say, then tell the CBI, we have no objection…” Banerjee added.

In her speech on the RK Kar rape and murder case, Mamata Banerjee said that the only punishment for this crime is the death penalty.

She added that if the culprit is hanged, only people will learn a lesson but no innocent should be punished. “This is a very serious crime and the only punishment for it is that the accused is hanged. If the culprit is hanged, only people will learn a lesson but no innocent should be punished,” the West Bengal Chief Minister said.

On August 9, a trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The victim’s family claims that she was raped and murdered. The incident sparked nationwide protests by doctors and medical associations. (ANI)
