Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez), Hector (Gael Garcia Bernal), and the rest of their friends and family are getting a long overdue place in the Disney theme parks. During the company’s D23 event in 2024, Disney announced that the very first Pixar-themed attraction coconut is coming to Disney’s California Adventure in Disneyland California. The announcement was made during Disney’s Experiences Showcase, where numerous new updates were announced for Disney parks around the world.

Details about the new attraction are still quite sparse, but the released concept art for the new attraction offers some clues as to what we can expect from the very first coconut ride. The vehicle pictured seems to indicate that the new ride will be a water boat ride that takes audiences on a grand musical tour of the Land of the Dead. Of course, we’ll likely meet more than a few familiar characters from the fan-favorite Pixar film along the way. The announcement was even accompanied by an appearance from the devious Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt), which may be a foretaste of the mischievous Disney villain returning for the ride.


The announcement of the coconut The ride came right after Disney announced that another boat ride would be coming to Disney’s California Adventure, with this one themed around the popular and beautiful Avatar Saga (more precisely, Avatar: The Way of WaterThe new original attraction will be the centerpiece of a larger Avatar-themed land that offers guests the opportunity to see the vibrant landscapes of Pandora like never before. Speaking of California Adventure, Disney also shared some long-awaited updates for Avengers Campus, which features two new rides with Avengers: Infinity War And Stark Flight Lab.

Since its debut in 2017 coconut has left a lasting impression as one of Pixar’s most successful and celebrated films. The heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking story of coconut has been enjoyed by millions, and for good reason. The film follows a young boy named Miguel who, despite his family’s hatred of music, pursues his lifelong dream of becoming a world-famous musician. When Miguel plays the guitar of legendary singer Ernesto de la Cruz, the young boy is transported to the land of the dead. With the help of a kind-hearted villain named Héctor, Miguel must find a way back home or he will be trapped in the land of the dead forever.
