GFW’s Habitat for Humanity begins construction of second Huntington home for 2024-25 season

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WPTA) – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne (GFW) began construction on its second home in Huntington on Thursday for the 2024-25 construction season.

At 8:30 a.m., Habitat for Humanity of GFW staff, Huntington County community and business leaders, and the partner family gathered on Iowa Street for a press conference and to begin construction.

Construction for the 2024–25 season at Huntington is made possible in part by the Ardelle and Theresa Glaze Foundation, IHCDA, Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters, Bendix, 1st Source Foundation and Novae.

The plan is to build a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1-car garage home for Habitat for Humanity and GFW partner Jadee and her four children.

When asked what owning a home would mean to her and her four children, Jadee replied, “Security and freedom – a safe place where my growing children can be themselves.”

Construction will occur alongside Habitat for Humanity of GFW’s other Huntington building, scheduled for 2024-25.

In addition to the two Huntington County developments, GFW’s Habitat for Humanity will serve 26 families and build 24 homes in southeast and central Fort Wayne during the 2024-25 construction season.
