The journey begins at the base camp at 17,598 feet and continues to the summit at 29,032 feet. This stunning footage was captured using the DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone, which you can purchase at your local electronics store.
It goes without saying that these drones can withstand all kinds of harsh temperatures and weather conditions, which is why they are perfect for the task. To climb Mount Everest, these drones have to cope with extreme cold, strong winds, thin air, snow, ice, and obstacles.
But that’s not all DJI is doing around the world’s highest peak. Earlier this spring, the company tested its cargo drone, the FlyCart 30, at Mount Everest Base Camp. After loading it with two oxygen tanks, they and Nepalese officials piloted the FlyCart 30 across the notoriously difficult Khumbu Icefall to Camp I. The delivery was successful.
Officials and experts now see great potential in using drones like the FlyCart 30 to provide logistical support on Everest. These drones could one day carry important equipment up the mountain and haul trash back down, making expeditions safer and more efficient.
The cost of climbing Mount Everest has increased significantly in recent years, largely to improve safety precautions for climbers. This spending covers better equipment, experienced guides, improved communication systems, and more efficient waste disposal – all essential to mitigating the inherent risks of such a dangerous climb. Drones could also help in emergency situations by delivering vital supplies quickly and safely, which could potentially reduce overall costs while increasing safety. It’s all in the works!
For now, however, DJI’s drones are primarily used to capture dizzying videos that give viewers a never-before-seen view of Everest’s majesty.
