Japanese airline ANA releases an enchanting Pokémon-themed safety video

Japanese airline ANA has collaborated with Pokémon to create an adorable safety video featuring everyone’s favorite catchable monsters.

The company revealed the fruits of its partnership today by releasing a nearly five-minute video that teaches passengers everything they need to know about air safety. Essentially, it’s a typical instructional video on flight safety, but with a little Pokémon spice. Highlights include appearances from pocket monsters from multiple generations. While Pikachu and Pichu naturally show up to help participants, other fan favorites like Rotom, Ludicolo, Emolga and Floragato are also included in fun ways.

Skip to minute 0:46 in the video to see a passenger help Lucario by adjusting his seat. And at minute two, Jigglypuff is seen scolding someone for vaping on the plane. Even Mr. Mime helps out by demonstrating how to properly wear oxygen masks. It’s both hilarious and very cute, while providing important instructions for everyone on board.

ANA’s Pokémon safety video is part of a larger collaboration with The Pokémon Company that has also resulted in creature-themed aircraft. Two aircraft – the Eevee Jet NH and the Pikachu Jet NH – are decorated both inside and out with various Pokémon from across the franchise. Both will feature the safety video starting August 15, 2024.

“With this collaboration, we aim to bring excitement to our customers and provide a flight safety video that people of all ages can enjoy,” ANA said in its description of the footage.

ANA’s history with Pokémon and video game-related themes goes back further than this new collaboration. Just last month, fans of the Street Pass Puzzle Swap game for Nintendo 3DS came together to solve an ANA-related puzzle that has taken more than a decade to solveFor more information on the world of Pokémon, see How the community came together to honor the voice of Misty, Jessie, and Jigglypuff, Rachel Lillis, after her death last weekend.
