Dyson has released news of not one but two launches, and it seems the haircare brand is looking into smartphone integration. The The latest product range, the Chitosan range, includes several hair styling products Designed to reduce frizz, enhance shine and improve hold of legendary stylers.
But the second launch is even more exciting (and unexpected). A new version of the popular multi-styler, officially called the Dyson Airwrap id, can connect to your phone via Bluetooth.
The brand is still all about keeping your hair and scalp in tip-top shape, but now they’re diving into app connectivity. Depending on your hair type, length, and confidence level when styling hair, the MyDyson app will guide you through the styling process while the machine itself adjusts the heat and airflow to perfectly suit your hair.
The Airwrap looks almost identical to previous models of the device, just with a technological twist. You can create your hair profile in the MyDyson app by answering a few questions about your hair. After you answer, you’ll be recommended a special styling routine just for you. The app starts the routine, adjusts temperature, airflow and time according to your hair type, and finishes it with a blast of cold air.
Above all, the app is designed to help you maintain your Airwrap more easily. It informs you about the condition of the filter, gives tips on cleaning and notifies you if something goes wrong.
What else is new?
The product changes show that Dyson has listened to feedback from previous customers. Customers weren’t sure how long they should leave their hair on the wand and whether they should use the cool air function. With the new app and hair tool, you no longer have to worry about that.
The new Airwap itself comes with three new attachments. The first is the tapered barrel, which starts at a width of 30mm and tapers to a tip of 20mm. This design helps to create more defined curls.
A new styling tool features a wave and curl diffuser that disperses air to make your natural waves look even better. There’s also a new blade concentrator attachment that improves the straightening function so you have more targeted airflow. When used with a brush, you can create cool curls at the ends of your hair (and get rid of annoying flyaways), allowing you to achieve a classic blowout look.
The Dyson Airwrap id will launch in the UK on August 27th and you can buy the product in-store and online at Dyson.co.uk. Pricing and release dates are currently unavailable for the US and Australia (we’ll come back and update this as soon as we find out). For now, you can get the Brand newsletter for the latest updates.
