This year’s amusement park season may be coming to an end, but next year is already looking interesting.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is launching (pun intended) a new roller coaster that is not only a thrilling ride, but also breaks several records.

According to NBC Chicago, the ride is called “The Wrath of Rakshasa”.

It is located directly opposite the park’s popular “Demon” attraction and includes:

  • 3 trains with 3 rows of seats for passengers of seven people each
  • 3,239 feet of track
  • The vehicle comes to a face-first halt in a cliffhanger before plunging 52 metres into the depths.
  • a 96-degree fall “beyond the vertical”
  • five “gravity-defying” inversions
  • Speeds of almost 67 miles per hour

Among the records it breaks are the the steepest roller coaster drop in the world and the most inversions on a dive coasterso the park.

To get a feel for the ride, check out the video from Six Flags Great America:

This would make me sick, but it looks so fun! It’s the first roller coaster added to the park since 2019. Six Flags Great America has been leaving really cryptic hints about the new attraction on social media, leading some to believe they were getting rid of the “Demon” attraction, but that’s not the case. “Wrath of Rakshana” is 180 feet tall and will be located in the County Fair area of the park.

The premiere of the new attraction is planned for next year.

Six Flags recently merged with Cedar Fair to form Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Since then, they have announced new investments in some rides and also invested in the food and beverage offerings of their parks.
