Hermon business owner surprised by turn of events at Coastal Dreams after offering to help

HERMON, Maine (WABI) – Devon Curtis is the owner of Devon’s Kitchen in Hermon.

She adopted two dogs from Coastal Dreams, whose owner, 44-year-old Ellisha Krutuleski, is now being investigated for animal cruelty.

At that time, Curtis wanted to help the rescue center because so many dogs needed a home.

Curtis offered her business as a place to raise funds.

They made several supply runs, bringing food, bedding and more.

Curtis also hosted adoption events.

She told TV5 that when owner Ellisha Krutuleski had to spend some time in the hospital, she posted on Facebook that the dogs were being taken care of.

But then, about two weeks ago, Curtis received a message from a volunteer who revealed some disturbing details.

“I got a message from someone who said it wasn’t great. And I got a lot of pictures of the conditions inside, of the dogs and how horrible it was,” Curtis said.

Curtis says, looking back, there were some signs.

One of the things she noticed was that people were not allowed to enter the area where the dogs were kept.

A spokesperson for the animal welfare program told TV5 that all the dogs had been placed in shelters and rescue centers and were doing well.
