Six Flags builds new roller coaster with extremely high height difference

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee has announced plans for a new roller coaster called “Wrath of Rakshasa” with a drop of over 170 feet.

GURNEE, Ill. (WLS) – Six Flags Great America unveiled plans for a new roller coaster with an extreme vertical drop.

The new dive coaster “Wrath of Rakshasa” offers a 52-meter-high drop with a 96-degree angle and a cliffhanger directly before the drop.

“Six Flags Great America continues to push the boundaries of innovation and thrills by introducing the world’s steepest drop with the most inversions on a dive coaster,” said park president John Krajnak. “Wrath of Rakshasa complements our already impressive lineup of record-breaking coasters and attractions in the park and demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative experiences for our guests.”

Wrath of Rakshasa features five inversions and speeds of nearly 67 miles per hour.
