Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, has announced plans to open a record-breaking dive coaster called Wrath of Rakshasa.
Wrath of Rakshasa features a 171-foot drop at a 96-degree angle with a cliffhanger right before the drop, described as the steepest in the world.
Over and beyond new Coasters will have five inversions – the most inversions on a dive coaster. It will be 55 meters high, offer speeds of almost 108 kilometers per hour and a 980 meter long track.
“Six Flags Great America continues to push the boundaries of innovation and thrills by introducing the world’s steepest drop with the most inversions on a dive coaster,” said park president Johannes Krajnak.
“Wrath of Rakshasa complements our already impressive lineup of record-breaking Roller coasters and attractions in the park, which underscores our commitment to providing state-of-the-art experiences to our guests.”
“Wrath of Rakshasa” was created by Bolliger & Mabillard and is scheduled to open in 2025 in the County Fair area of the park.
After Cedar Fairs fusion With Six Flags, the new Six Flags Entertainment Corporation manages 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks and nine resorts in 17 U.S. states, Canada and Mexico.
The company’s plans for 2025 also include Rollercoaster AlpenFury at Canada’s Wonderland, an expansion for Carowinds’ Camp SnoopyThe Rapterra roller coaster at Kings Dominion and the Water roller coaster RiverRacers in Soak City on Kings Island.
New Six Flags experiences
In addition, Six Flags New England is opening the launch coaster Quantum Accelerator. On this ride, guests can enjoy 11 airtime moments.
