Group travel and escorted tour operator Travel Department has appointed Lucy Park as its new Trade Sales Account Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Lucy joins from The Travel Chapter where she was Head of Business Development. She reports to Stephen Mills, General Manager of Travel Department UK.
Travel Department, founded in Ireland almost 30 years ago, expanded its UK distribution network in 2023 and has been working with travel agents for 18 months.
Last month, Travel Department recorded its highest revenue day ever and attributed the success largely to travel agents.
CEO James Coughlan said: “We have seen amazing growth in travel agents over the last 18 months and the recruitment of Lucy to this new role in the company is further testament to our belief in and commitment to this trade channel.
“Stephen Mills has led the development of this new channel for the company and has achieved tremendous success. Based on these achievements, we felt now was the right time to expand our sales team to further support Stephen and our broader growth initiatives.”
Stephen said: “With 2023 trading revenues exceeding all expectations, 2024 bookings significantly higher than last year and agent revenues already significantly exceeding 2024 bookings, Lucy couldn’t have joined the company at a better time.”
Lucy said: “I’m looking forward to getting out and about and meeting agents to be their main local contact. I want to ensure we continue to provide an excellent service and help make the lives of our agent partners easier.”
Travel Department’s escorted tours and guided holidays include river cruises, solo holidays, long-haul, city breaks and short breaks to 200 destinations. Departures are available from London, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and Dublin.
The operator works with agent partners to create customized, branded direct mail campaigns, social media content and offers.
