Uvalde Police have not released all bodycam videos, agency says

Uvalde police said Wednesday they discovered additional bodycam footage related to the Robb Elementary School massacre that has not been released, in addition to the thousands of other recordings and documents released to the media last week under court order.

Following a lawsuit filed by Scripps News and several other media organizations, the department was required to release all video footage from the day of the shooting.

However, the agency said an officer claimed some of his bodycam footage was missing from the release, prompting Uvalde Chief Homer Delgado to order a review of the agency’s servers to find additional material that may have been missed.

During the review, several other videos were found that were not part of the original publication, the ministry said.

Now the newly discovered footage will be reviewed by District Attorney Christina Mitchell to determine if it is needed for further investigation while the city decides whether and in what form to release it under the court order.

Delgado has also launched an internal investigation to determine how the footage was overlooked and whether disciplinary action is necessary.

The devastating Robb Elementary School shooting occurred in Texas on May 24, 2022, when a lone gunman killed 19 young children and two teachers. Seventeen people were injured. Ongoing investigations into the shooting have uncovered failures and systematic errors in law enforcement actions and communications on the day of the shooting.
