Regardless, GODSMACK may still release music

Regardless, GODSMACK may still release music

Sully Erna has made it quite a big deal lately to talk about how Light up the sky is the last God’s blow will I ever do musically. Erna said in a recent interview about the decision that God’s blow is that we are “basically freeing ourselves from making any more new music because we have a strong catalog,” and that the band just wants to “enjoy the rest of our career and travel and play shows instead of always having to be in the studio.”

But as with any farewell tour or promise that a big band is done with something, that is not quite the case. In an interview with 105.7 The point, Erna has now clarified that God’s blow is open to future singles or even a collaboration with another artist. Which is totally fine, to be honest – but don’t say you’re done with new music in one interview and then say you’re still keeping an open mind in another, right?

“We love each other. It’s not even a ‘being ourselves,’ it’s like a deep love. We really love and respect each other. We’ve jumped over so many mountains and climbed so many hills, and there were a lot of complications along the way, so it’s not been a walk in the park by any means. But it’s a cause for celebration because here we are; we understand each other better than ever. The music is still relevant (and) we’re still doing big shows. It’s truly a blessing.

“And now we’re even at an age where we can spend time with our daughters as people, as adults. And it’s cool. Maybe we missed a lot of the beginning, but the moms were there to nurture them and help them through it. We were the providers, but now it’s like they really like to come and watch the shows and stuff like that. My daughter actually lives with me right now. So, it’s really cool, man. And I love this phase of the career that we’re in.”

“Listen, you can never say never. We don’t know if we’re going to put out a single here or there, we don’t know if we’re going to do a collaboration here or there. We just know that what feels right at the moment, and that’s why we’ve taken the steps to announce it, is that we truly believe that this is probably the last full body of work by God’s blow But we’re not going anywhere either. We’re still coming out. We’re going to do live shows and go on tour and honor the career and do a kind of greatest hits show.”

Apart from that, God’s blow certainly keeps his promise to tour a whole boatload. God’s blow on one of the numerous dates below and get your tickets here.
