Guests flee EPCOT in droves after torture allegations, warnings spread throughout the parks

Thousands of Walt Disney World Resort guests are having trouble improving their functionality after riding Mission: SPACE at EPCOT.

The NASA-style space flight simulator attraction is one of the few attractions at Disney Park where guests can choose the intensity. The family-friendly “Green Mission” uses a light motion simulator and does not rotate. The “Orange Mission” actually simulates a mission to Mars with “a centrifuge that spins and tilts to simulate the speed and G-forces of a spacecraft launch and reentry.”

Given the family-friendly nature of most Disney Park attractions, many guests underestimate the intensity of Mission: SPACE—even Mission Orange. Disney Parks fans recently took to Reddit to discuss how the ride made their lives miserable for a day and even affected the rest of their vacation.

“I was sick for the rest of the day,” Redditor u/salcido__ wrote. “Be careful before driving this even if you have a strong stomach!!!”

“Look, I’ll ride any crazy rollercoaster I can find – I even like those spinning gravitron things at the fair!” u/bellegi replied. “But the space mission is just torture – it’s a nauseating, claustrophobic fear trip that I’ll never understand how anyone could enjoy.”

u/DukeJackson’s son was traumatized by his experience on the trip:

“On our trip last year, we wanted to go to Test Track on our EPCOT day, but when we got there, the line was already full. We saw that there was a 5 minute wait at Mission Space and went over. We had no idea about the colors and which side was which. We happened to go on orange.

About 45 seconds into the ride, my 12-year-old son started vomiting all over the cabin. I spent the next few minutes calming him down, afraid he would choke on the vomit. The ride seemed to last forever. It just went on and on.”

Some EPCOT guests who did not ride the World Discovery simulator were still affected by the intensity.

“When I was there a few months ago, the area smelled bad…” recalled u/gatopreto13. “It was coming from the garbage cans, because it smelled like vomit rotting in the heat.”

Still, some Disney Parks guests enjoy Mission: SPACE. u/redgreenorangeyellow said they wish it was “more intense.”

“I must be a weird person because I love this ride and ride the Mars mission whenever I’m there,” u/bingc710 replied. “Last year I took my kid and he loved it (too). Although we also do teacup rides and get them rolling as soon as possible, maybe we’re just weird that way.”

“I love it too,” agreed u/wasteland-wanderer81. “A nice change from the family-friendly rides. I saw lots of kids get in the orange line with me.”
