5 ways to connect with colleagues at Johns Hopkins

Now that summer is winding down and meetings are starting to ramp up again, you may be planning for the year ahead. Here’s a reminder: Make time in your calendar to connect with your Johns Hopkins colleagues and build your community by joining a networking group that provides a safe space to share experiences, resources, encouragement, and advice.

Five regularly scheduled networking groups provide employees with the opportunity to connect with others who may be going through similar life experiences. Meetings are virtual and not recorded.

Be connected

New to the JHU Networking Group

Are you a first-year at JHU? This new hire group is ready to connect you with colleagues from across the university to share resources and experiences and pave the way for future collaboration and growth. Meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of every month from noon to 1 p.m. Upcoming dates are September 19, October 17, November 21, and December 19.

Young Professionals Networking Group

This group for young professionals provides an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who are early in their careers and share resources and information. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month. The next dates are August 28, September 25 and October 23.

Network group for retirement provision

The road to retirement can bring up many emotions. Do you feel anxiety, fear or excitement as you approach your post-work life? Want to connect with others who are also experiencing feelings about retirement? Talk to colleagues about this important milestone. This group meets the second Friday of every month from 12pm to 1pm. The next dates are September 13, October 11, November 8 and December 13.

Network group for adult care

Adult caregivers may struggle with financial, emotional and physical challenges while meeting the needs of a loved one while managing other life priorities. A forum to share with others about adult caregiving issues is held the third Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. The next dates are September 18, October 16, November 20 and December 18.

Network group for the care of children with disabilities

If you are caring for a child with a disability, it can be difficult to find support and fit your own needs into your everyday life. This group offers the opportunity to connect with like-minded people who may be facing similar issues. Meetings are held quarterly from 12-1pm on the second Monday of each month, with the next meeting being on November 11th.

Important to know

Registration is required for all networking groups. You are encouraged to attend all sessions, but may attend select sessions based on availability. Meetings are confidential, not recorded, and open only to Johns Hopkins members.

For each networking group, there is a Microsoft Teams group for sharing resources and networking. If you would like to be added, email [email protected] and be sure to include the name of the group(s) you would like to join.
