Donald Trump stopped by North Carolina for a campaign event where he spoke Kamala Harristried to focus on the problems and pushed for Mark Robinson’s gubernatorial candidacy, currently trailing his Democratic rival Josh Stein. The former president is also fighting to regain the lead in key states during Harris’ honeymoon.

Trump arrived in Asheville on Wednesday afternoon to a packed audience. The Republican candidate tried to focus exclusively on the economy and constantly paraphrased Ronald Reaganwho asked Americans over 40 years ago whether they were better off than they were four years ago.

Does anyone here feel richer under Kamala Harris and Crooked Joe than during the Trump administration? Is there anything cheaper with Kamala Harris and Crooked Joe? Are you better off now with Harris and Biden than with a person named President Donald J. Trump? Do you know him? He is a fine gentleman,” he explained.

“Inflation is destroying our country. It is destroying our families. We will attack everything from the affordability of cars and housing to the cost of insurance and supply chain problems,” he continued.

The former president tried to connect Harris with Biden, also noting that she was the deciding vote on two of the president’s spending bills: the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Trump, however, could not resist criticizing the Vice President personally, calling her laughter “crazy” and and claimed she was not very “smart”. “We’re going to talk about one topic today and then come back to the other, because that’s what we enjoy, isn’t it?” he joked.

Harris has not answered official questions from the press for more than twenty days and avoided commenting on issues such as the economy, immigration and mining.
