For Eva Mendes, a completely new era of motherhood has begun.
On Tuesday, August 13, the 50-year-old actress revealed on Instagram that she can’t leave the house without stuffed animals. As a mother to daughters Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 8, whom she has with long-term partner Ryan Gosling, 43, Mendes says, “That’s all they want!”
The mother of two posted two pictures of herself wearing oversized purple sunglasses and carrying a large shopping bag, writing: “Mommy life. I’m officially in the square era. I can’t leave the house without at least two of these in my big mommy bag.”
Her carousel also includes a short clip of her emptying her “mommy bag” to show off her essentials, including baby wipes, crayons, a coloring book, and of course, several stuffed animals.

“Are there others like me?” she asks in her caption. “When will this phase end? They’re everywhere! That’s all they want! 🧸!”
Many of Mendes’ followers could identify with the mother of two, including actress Hannah Waddingham, who commented: “One in the car, one in my bag, one in her backpack, 12 MILLION in her bedroom! And she’s 10!”
“I feel bad! They’re invading our house! Good thing they’re cute (but I’m sure they’re poisonous 😩). Lots of love to you, beautiful mommy! X,” Mendes replied.

In the comments, she told another follower that she was “secretly” loving this new phase, sharing, “Will take pics for stories later because now that I have a giant mommy bag they’re really taking it to the extreme. She’s so damn cute though. I secretly love her.”
Another user mentioned the popular stuffed animal brand Squishmallows in the comments, writing, “They are the cutest and also double as a pillow if the kid (or parent 😂) needs a nap at some point.”
The comment seemed to hit Mendes, who described the large, pillow-like stuffed animals as “a whole different thing.”
“Oh yeah! The Squishmallows – that’s a whole different story. Luckily I haven’t been asked to carry them around… yet!” she joked.
