LP Puckett – Grice Connect

April 5, 1945 – August 12, 2024

LP Puckett, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 12, 2024 under the care of Regency SouthernCare Hospice.

LP was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia to the late YZ and Egarah Murphy Puckett. After graduating from Dacula High School in 1965, LP joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War where he received the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the Marksman (Rifle) Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Metal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. After his time in the military, LP returned and lived in the Dacula area until 2021 when he moved to Statesboro to be closer to his family.

He was a certified Baptist minister and a parts dealer for Chrysler before retiring from the UAW. He spent his free time fishing, hunting and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, which he greatly enjoyed. LP always made people laugh, especially his wife of 55 years, Mildred. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Carolyn Justice and Sandra Greeson, and two brothers, Billy Puckett and Donald Puckett.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Eubanks Puckett, two children, Angela O’Dowd (Daniel) and Brian Puckett (Deena), four grandchildren, Davis O’Dowd, Brendan O’Dowd, Haley Puckett and Ashton Puckett, a brother, Ricky Puckett, a brother-in-law, Gene Greeson, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Ewing Chapel Baptist Church in Dacula, Georgia. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Foundation: https://www.cancer.org/donate.html. Friends may sign the online registry at www.joineranderson.com.
