Air Force football uniforms: Falcons put pressure on Army-Navy over service academy equipment

The Army-Navy Game is a 133-year-old tradition, and since 2016 the teams have unveiled special uniforms before the historic annual rivalry game in December. other During this period, the Jersey Military Academy also entered the battlefield.

Each season, the Air Force presents its β€œAir Power Legacy Series,” and on Tuesday the program gifted us with the 2024 edition, which honors the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC).

Will Army or Navy be able to outdo their military academy rival? The Falcons have made sure it will be difficult.

With the latest release, the Air Force sets the tone for Service Academy uniforms

Despite their air superiority, the Falcons tend to put pressure on the ground. The first version of the APLS featured the tiger shark teeth on the nose that became famous on several Air Force aircraft during World War II. Aside from the flashy helmets, however, the rest of the uniform seemed a bit boring – not this year.

All-black jerseys always stand out on the field, but the Falcons didn’t settle for that. The front bumper of the helmet highlights the Special Tactics Combat Control motto: “First There,” while the rear bumper displays the AFSOC motto: “Any Place, Any Time, Anywhere.”

While “AFSOC” occupies the traditional nameplate area on the back of the jersey, the players’ names are on the right chest. The red Swoosh on the jersey and pants, as well as the red outline of the numbers, are a nod to the scarlet berets worn by combat controllers.

If the jersey and pants didn’t turn your head, the helmet certainly will. It features the official emblem of AFSOC in a stunning fashion, with the dagger in the center and silver wings protruding from it.

The Air Force will wear the new gear when it faces the Navy at Falcon Stadium on Saturday, October 5. The contest will be televised on CBS.

The Falcons enter 2024 ranked 8th out of 12 in the Mountain West Power Rankings. Although they have endured only four losing seasons since head coach Troy Calhoun took over in 2007, they rank dead last in return performance.
