How to create custom playbooks in Madden 25

Madden 25 allows you to create custom offensive and defensive playbooks that you can use in various modes. The game includes all 32 playbooks for every NFL team’s offense and defense, plus nine more pre-made custom playbooks. So we’ve created a guide on how to create custom offensive and defensive playbooks in Madden 25. Without further ado, let’s create a playbook that will catapult you to the Super Bowl.

How to create custom playbooks in Madden 25?

To create a custom playbook in Madden 25, players must:

  • Go to the Creation Zone menu and select Playbooks (found between Players & Uniforms and Load/Delete Files).
  • Select “Create Attack” or “Create Defense”
  • Select an existing team’s playbook to customize and create your own

Once you’ve done that, you can customize, create, and edit a playbook in various ways. In this menu, you’ll see four different submenus:

First, the Audibles Menu This allows you to change the four preset plays that your offense/defense can hear before the game starts. This applies to all formations. For example, you can change the audible plays for your goal line defense as well as the pistol or shotgun formation. Therefore, depending on your formation, you have a different set of audible cues to choose from.

In the My Playbook Pageallows you to rate and remove plays from your playbook. So if you don’t like plays like PA Waggle or Deep Post Out, you can easily remove them. Or, if you don’t like them but still want to keep them, you can give them a low rating. This way, you can always revisit your favorite plays whenever you fire up Madden 25.

The All pieces Page shows you, as the name suggests, every play for every formation. You can activate plays here and add them to your playbook.

Finally, the My gameplay page This is where you set a play’s star rating. This determines how often the play is suggested in certain situations. For example, if you like to run an HB Inside Zone every 1st and 10th, be sure to give it a high rating in this category.

Remember, you can save and edit your custom playbooks at any time, so if you want to take a break, press the start (or pause) button on your controller to save your progress. Creating a fully fleshed out playbook takes time, so patience is key when trying to create something competitive.

This concludes our guide on how to create custom playbooks in Madden 25. While the process may seem intimidating at first, over time it actually becomes fun to simply experiment with different plays.
