Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar recently took a trip down memory lane as he celebrated the 18th anniversary of his iconic film. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (KANK). The director shared a nostalgic post on Instagram full of behind-the-scenes looks and heartfelt reflections.

Expressing his deep personal connection with the film, Johar said, “KANK was the path I didn’t have to take, but it was the best decision I made… till date!” He acknowledged the film’s significant impact on his career and personal development, and highlighted the support and camaraderie he shared with the cast and crew.

Responding to the post, acclaimed designer Manish Malhotra wrote in the comments section: “A film ahead of its time… I love KANK and all the wonderful memories of our long, long shoot in New York.”

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehnastarring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta, was a bold take on complex relationships and unconventional narratives. The film received mixed reviews upon its release.

However, it is worth mentioning that Karan Johar once in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungamarevealed that his mother Hiroo was scared after she Kabhi Alvida Naa KehnaHe told us: “After KANK, she was quiet. She went out and said nothing. A week later, she asked me: ‘Can you explain why you had to go so extreme on this issue?’ I said that’s my belief. She said: ‘I won’t say anything. But when I saw it, I was very scared.’ That’s what she said. She’s very honest with me.”

Speaking of career: Karan’s last film as a director was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which was published last year.
