Old Fortnite player finally gets “stolen” account back 6 years later

A Fortnite player finally got his account back six years later after “harassing” Epic Games support, but soon realized he was missing several years’ worth of iconic skins.

OG Fortnite accounts have become more and more valuable over time as they are usually filled with rare skins from the first few seasons, but this has led to more and more hackers stealing Epic accounts from players and them never getting them back.

Nevertheless, Fortnite player Meddel5 revealed that he was one of the lucky ones by sharing his story on FortniteBR Reddit: “To the person who stole my account over 6 years ago: I finally got it back, you moron.”

The OG player shared a screenshot from the game showing some of the game’s rarest skins that he had regained access to. These included Rogue Agent, which we ranked as the third rarest skin, and The Reaper Outfit, which is famously based on John Wick.

This naturally sparked a number of questions from players in the community, many of whom shared similar experiences and issues.

“Have they unlocked new skins in the last 6 years?” one asked. “NO, they couldn’t even be cool and unlock the free ones, shake my head, useless,” the OG replied.

“Why did it take so long to come back?” asked another, to which the OG replied, “To be honest, for a long time I thought it was gone forever. They refused to help at first, so I thought I was out of luck.”

Another added: “Persistence pays off! Glad you finally got it back. Now it’s time to celebrate in-game!”

“How did you get it back? I want my account back too,” asked another. “Hate Epic support, eventually a decent rep will send a verification email to the original email address the account was created with, that will get the ball rolling,” Meddel5 replied.

If you are having trouble accessing your Fortnite account, you can contact Epic Games Support to regain access.

Once you get your account back, you can also check to see if you’re eligible for a refund following Fortnite’s settlement with the FTC in 2022. According to the lawsuit, Epic must pay $245 million in refunds for using “Dark Patterns” to trick players into unintentionally purchasing in-game goods.
