Alaska Airlines partners with Michelin chef to create new first-class menu

Alaska Airlines has partnered with chef Brandon Jew, owner of Michelin-starred restaurant Mister Jiu’s, to introduce a new menu in First Class.

The catering service will be offered on flights between San Francisco International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York starting August 28, 2024; the partnership is scheduled to last at least one year.

“We are grateful to Chef Jew for his partnership on this exciting initiative and his ongoing commitment to enhancing our guests’ travel experience with outstanding hospitality and world-class cuisine,” said Todd Traynor-Corey, general manager of guest products for Alaska Airlines. “Our relationship with Chef Jew has been ongoing for several years, including working together to give back to the residents of San Francisco’s Chinatown. His commitment to quality, gastronomic craftsmanship and philanthropy aligns perfectly with our values.”

The menu includes dishes such as brown rice congee with soy-marinated eggs and braised pork belly for breakfast, braised duck leg with sesame egg noodles and gai lan, and stir-fried black cod with ginger spring onion sauce and fried shiitake mushrooms for lunch and dinner.

“I am thrilled to partner with Alaska Airlines on their first-class flight menu that connects my hometown of San Francisco to New York, a city I’ve always wanted to live in,” said Chef Brandon Jew. “Luxury starts with quality ingredients, which underscores our shared values. At Mister Jiu’s, we are constantly evolving and redefining Chinese American cuisine in the Bay Area while advocating for global recognition of Chinese cuisine – the partnership with Alaska Airlines takes Chinese cuisine to a new level from coast to coast.”

As part of the partnership and in support of Chef Jew’s previous charitable work, Alaska Airlines is donating $5,000 to Gum Moon Women’s Residence, a local nonprofit organization established to address the unmet needs of women and children in geographic and social transition.
