Patrick Mahomes doesn’t know what music was played at the Chiefs’ 2024 practice

Patrick Mahomes was surprised when he didn’t recognize any of the tunes at a Kansas City Chiefs practice.

“It’s just crazy how much music I don’t know out here,” Mahomes, 28, said in a TikTok posted by the Chiefs on Monday, Aug. 12. “I know I’m getting old.”

The quarterback, who wore a microphone for the day’s practice, noted that he listens to “all kinds” of music but “just has no idea out here.”

“I’ve never heard that song in my life,” he added with a laugh.

Mahomes had a particularly challenging workout. Before his musical revelation, the NFL star realized he had forgotten his padded football pants and was wearing a pair of underpants instead. In another clip, Patrick told his teammates about his mistake, saying, “Oh, dude, I didn’t put my pants on. Do you think anyone’s going to notice? I look like an idiot right now, dude.”

While he appears to be referring to the Chiefs head coach Andy ReidMahomes joked, “Maybe he thinks my quads are so big they look like pants.” Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy then said, “I doubt it.”

Mahomes left the field to get ready for practice. “Gotta put my pants on,” he said. “See you later, (offensive lineman) Creed (Humphrey).”

After the first clip of Mahomes’ pants mishap was posted by the Chiefs earlier this month, the athlete shared the video on his own Instagram story and added several laughing and crying emojis. His wife, Brittany Mahomesalso made fun of him.

“Sorry I’m not there to dress you… 😂 @patrickmahomes,” Brittany, 28, wrote in her Instagram story alongside the clip.

After taking a few months off following his Super Bowl LVIII victory, Patrick headed to Chiefs training camp in July – and has since been visited by his wife and their two children: daughter Sterling Skye, 3, and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III, 20 months.

“Was with daddy today,” Brittany wrote in her Instagram story on July 27. While Brittany and the kids watched Patrick, they “ate a lot of snacks” and “wanted to go play with daddy the whole time.”

Brittany noted that Bronze “spent an hour and a half looking for his dad.” After they spotted Patrick, she joked that Bronze “didn’t know what to do.”

Brittany and Patrick announced last month that they are expecting their third baby. They later revealed that it is a girl.

When asked if the couple plans to expand their family beyond baby No. 3, Patrick replied during a press conference: “I’m done, I can say that. I said three and I’m done.”
