DICK’S Sporting Goods builds distribution center in Texas, USA

DICK’S Sporting Goods has announced plans to build an 800,000 square foot regional distribution center in Fort Worth, Texas.

The strategic expansion will create 300 new full-time jobs over the next decade, strengthening the local economy.

The facility will expand DICK’S Sporting Goods’ distribution capabilities to over 100 stores in multiple states and strengthen the company’s presence in Texas.

Fort Worth was chosen because it offers a good business environment, has a skilled workforce and is close to the company’s growing branch network in the region.

The new distribution center will join existing facilities in Atlanta, Conklin, Goodyear, Plainfield and Smithton.

Construction is scheduled to begin in autumn 2024, and the groundbreaking ceremony will create an additional 800 temporary jobs in the construction industry.

Sean Whitehouse, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain at DICK, said, “We are pleased to announce our plans to build and open a distribution center in Fort Worth.

“This facility will support the rapid growth of our company, including in the state of Texas, and enable a more efficient and effective flow of product to athletes, whether they shop in-store or online. We also look forward to playing an active role in the Fort Worth community.”

The distribution center will occupy an 89.5-acre site in the Risinger/35 Logistics Park, a Hillwood complex.

Hillwood, also responsible for AllianceTexas, and Hillwood Construction Services will develop and build the project, which is scheduled to open in early 2026.

In line with its sustainability efforts, DICK’S Sporting Goods will implement initiatives such as high-efficiency lighting and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, the use of recycled materials, energy management systems and recycling programs at the new facility.

Reid Goetz, Senior Vice President at Hillwood, said, “Hillwood is honored to partner with DICK’S Sporting Goods to build their next-generation distribution facility in our Risinger/35 logistics park in south Fort Worth.

DICK’S Sporting Goods reported a 10% decrease in net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2024 to $275 million from $305 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2023.
