Today’s Connections Answer – Tips for Solving
Unlike our guide to today’s Wordle answer where we recommend the best Wordle seed words as a strategy, solving Connections relies on identifying categories of connections among 16 words. The difficulty level of each category is represented by a color; yellow is the easiest grouping and purple is the most challenging. Once you make 4 mistakes in your guesses, the answers are revealed, so hints can be helpful.
If you need hints on how to solve the groupings, you can find the topics of the individual groupings here, sorted by difficulty level:
- 🟨 Yellow: Big boat
- 🟩 Green: Great of all time
- 🟦 Blue: Regarding
- 🟪 Purple: Homophones of physical features
These clues should give you at least part of the answer to today’s Connections question. If not, you can read on for bigger clues. If you just want to know the answer, keep scrolling down.
Here is a bigger hint: Today’s puzzle is full of puns. Think of the Olympic Games taking place across the pond.
Today’s Connections Answers
So what are today’s Connections answers for game #427?
Drum roll, please…
- 🟨 Big boat: barge, boat, ship
- 🟩 The best of all time: Best, Champion, GOAT, Legend
- 🟦 Regarding: about, concerning, on, towards
- 🟪 Homophones of physical features: rabbit, me, shell, marine
Yellow was a no-brainer for me today. Growing up near the largest naval base in the world, I’ve heard pretty much every name for a boat there is, so the terms ship, boat, craft, and barge were pretty easy to understand.
Next came green. With the Olympics currently underway in Paris, I had gold in mind, so Best and Champ caught my eye. Next came Legend, and then GOAT, after I realized they meant the acronym for Great of All Time, not the four-legged variety.
Then I set about solving the blue category. I thought it might be related to About and On somehow. Maybe something to do with parts of speech? But I was right on my second guess after adding Concerning and Toward.
Purple was a memorized addition after that, and although I didn’t guess the category, I can understand the play on words.
Yesterday’s Connections answers
Are you reading this in a later time zone? Here are the Connections answers for game #426, which had a difficulty level of 3.4 out of 5 according to the Connections Companion.
I managed to get through yesterday’s puzzle, which always gives me a little extra momentum. Maybe I worked too hard, because with Edge, Office, Times and Windows I hit the blue category almost immediately.
Since I’m already thinking about tools for the workplace, the green category came next. I’ve spent more time using, running, and editing Microsoft products than I’d like to admit.
In the yellow category, I thought about Devil and Mars for a long time and doubted myself. “Surely it’s not just… things that are red… right?” I thought. But sometimes it really is that simple.
Purple was the routine filler today with Blonde, Jobs, Milk and Vice, which is good because I’ve only seen two of those films.
