Javed Akhtar announces new collaboration with Salim Khan: We will write another film together

Salim-Javed, the legendary screenwriters who shaped Indian cinema in the 1970s with films like Zanjeer, School And Deewarwill reunite to write a new feature film project, Javed Akhtar, one half of the duo, announced on Tuesday.

The industry insider made the announcement during the release of the trailer for the upcoming Prime Video documentary series Angry young menwhich explores the impressive creative partnership and legacy of Salim Khan and Akhtar.

“Now I want to tell you that we will write. I have spoken to him (Salim Khan).Bas ek aur picture hum like mine“(We’re only going to write one more movie together).”

Earlier, we used to charge a high price for our work. Today, it is even higher, so please be careful,” Akhtar told reporters here. Salim and Javed reinvented the format of Bollywood blockbusters with their films by capturing the public but also chronicling the anxieties of their times. The duo were also known as the first Indian screenwriting duo to attain star status.

After working together on 22 Hindi films and two Kannada films, the duo decided to end their partnership in 1982. The title of the documentary series, Angry young menrefers to the angry young man hero type they created in the 1970s, which became a cinematic representation of the era and also launched Amitabh Bachchan’s fame.

The three-part series will stream on Prime Video on August 20. Angry young men is a joint venture of superstar Salman Khan Films, Excel Entertainment of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and Tiger Baby Films of Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.

Namrata Rao, known for her work as an editor on films such as Oh dear, lucky guy! Lucky guy!, Ishqiya, Band Baaja Baaraat And Kahaaniis the director.
