Ariana Grande deleted her Twitter account for Christmas and her fans are seriously worried

On Friday, Ariana Grande deactivated her Twitter account without a single word of explanation.

Before we go any further or everyone reading this panics, we just want to quickly clarify that Ari’s Instagram is still active. Feeling a little better? Good. Now back to Ariana’s sudden and abrupt disappearance from Twitter.

According to People, Ari’s Twitter was deactivated on Friday afternoon and speculation quickly began about the reason for the change. Theories ranged from a response to cyberbullying to Ari’s plans to announce a major new project. As of Monday morning, the account was still down.

Although Ariana’s Instagram account is still active, she has not directly commented on her Twitter situation there. However, she did send her fans some Christmas wishes in her Instagram stories, writing, “Merry Christmas!!! Thinking of you all and wishing you the warmest, happiest, healthiest ever. πŸ™‚ Love you so much.”

Ariana also shared a very serious message about the importance of practicing empathy and being mindful of what others may be struggling with during the holidays, which may be a clue as to why she decided to take a Twitter break:

“Someone you know is preparing for their first Christmas without a husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister, daughter or son. Others are preparing for their last,” read the post, which Ari shared on her IG story. “Regardless of the specifics, remember that this time of joy is often also a time of sadness for many. Be kind, be generous, give love, give help; if nothing else, just don’t make it hard for people.”

Of course, she also shared a rather random picture of a sock-and-sandal-clad foot (which may belong to her husband Dalton Gomez) in the snow, so who knows if we should read too much into the possible connection between her IG Story posts and her Twitter deactivation.

Whatever the reason, Ariana’s decision to delete her Twitter account has caused her fans great concern about her well-being and current mental and emotional health:

For now, Twitter will just have to wait and see when (or if) Ariana returns.
