Genesis updates the G80 for 2025 and we get the chance to get behind the wheel

We're driving the 2025 Genesis G80. What would you like to know about it?

  • The Genesis G80 luxury sedan will receive a facelift for 2025 with prices starting at under $58,000.
  • With the G80’s advanced technology and competitive pricing, Genesis aims to break luxury norms.
  • The redesigned G80 promises luxury and performance normally found only in six-figure vehicles.

Genesis continues to target the whales with its value-focused offerings like the G70, G80 and G90. For 2025, the company is updating the G80 with a number of new technologies, some new design elements and a relatively low starting price. We’re in the process of testing one out right now. What would you like to know about it?

Genesis invited Carscoops to Lexington, Kentucky to test drive this new luxury car. It sounds like the weather is going to be nice and the car could be even nicer. Honestly, based on the information we have now, the question is whether it’s better to drive the car than sit in the back seat.

Review: The Genesis G70 Turbo V6 (2024) is better than ever

This car is available with not one, but two widescreen monitors in the second row. Buyers can add heated, ventilated and power-adjustable rear seats. Even the front center console armrest is heated. A fingerprint authentication system customizes the driving experience for each person who uses the car regularly. In short, it’s packed with tech that would normally be found in a car that costs six figures.

Instead, it starts at $57,100, albeit without some of the flashier options listed above. That price positions the Genesis G80 as a high-quality offering. At the same time, there’s no getting around the fact that without the badge of one of the three big German luxury brands, some people will pass it over anyway. Is it good enough to keep up with or beat competition from Lexus and Acura, or even challenge the Germans? We’ll find out.

One thing that’s not up for debate is the luxury-focused powertrain. Lexus and Acura often use front-wheel drive vehicles. Genesis sticks with rear-wheel drive or, in the case of the G80, rear-wheel drive-biased AWD systems. The base G80 model comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 300 hp (223 kW), and there’s also a 375 hp (280 kW) V6.

What should we find out for you in our review of the G80? Are you concerned about the interior noise level, the tech, the luxury, the cargo space, or something else? Let us know in the comments below!
