JACKSON, Mississippi (WJTV) – JXN Water officials said the company has begun turning off water meters of homes and businesses that have been using water without a valid account.
According to officials, JXN Water discovered earlier this year that thousands of addresses with new water meters were using water without a corresponding account, resulting in unbilled water usage. These properties are now in the process of being redeemed.

The company said letters were sent to the addresses informing residents that they must contact JXN Water to open an account or risk having their water supply cut off without notice. They said many residents have come forward and opened accounts, but many others have not.
Earlier this week, officials said more than 125 people had opened accounts with JXN Water after their supply was cut off. Once customers open an account, water supply will be restored, officials said.
If customers have any concerns or questions, they can contact JXN Water’s call center at 601-500-5200.
