SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – Seven people have been arrested in connection with five separate violent incidents, including two people getting into altercations with police, two shootings, one domestic violence incident involving personal injury and one traffic stop.

Shreveport police arrested 59-year-old Brian Parker on Friday after a shoplifting call turned violent. The manager of a Walmart on West Bert Kouns reported Parker for suspected shoplifting. The manager confronted Parker, who responded in a confrontational manner.

An arriving officer tried to stop Parker, but he reacted combatively and a fight broke out. Despite several attempts to bring Parker to the ground, he continued to resist, the officer said. So a taser was deployed. It was temporarily effective, but Parker was able to free himself and ran away.

The altercation continued in the parking lot. Two other officers helped subdue Parker. He was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

Parker was charged with theft and resisting an officer with violence.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Shots fired at Kitty Lane

Shreveport police were called to a shooting call in the 3200 block of Kitty Lane on Saturday night. While on the road, officers saw someone drive off and followed him.

After a brief chase, officers stopped the driver, Quashayveia Washington, 35, who was reportedly involved in the shooting. No one was injured.

A firearm and cartridge cases were confiscated. Washington is charged with fleeing from an officer, illegal use of a weapon and several traffic violations.

Shots fired on Dalzell Street

A call about a shooting Monday night in the 400 block of Dalzell Street led to the arrest of two men, Quintravuis Holloway, 31, and Quinton Holloway, 36.

Police said they saw the two exit an alley near the call location and followed the driver, who drove slowly for seven blocks before stopping. During the stop, officers found several types of narcotics and a handgun in the vehicle.

After a thorough roadside investigation, it was determined that Quinton Holloway had warrants for trespassing and simple assault. He was arrested on these warrants as well as for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Quintravuis Holloway, 31, was arrested for possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, as well as possession of a Schedule I narcotics and possession of a Schedule II narcotics.

Knife threat leads to arrest

Shreveport police arrested 18-year-old Makayla Stanton on Saturday after she was accused of threatening her partner with a large knife during an argument in the 6700 block of Raspberry Lane.

Stanton is accused of assaulting his partner and causing grievous bodily harm. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Traffic control leads to 2 arrests

A traffic stop on Monday evening at the intersection of Topeka Street and Gilbert Drive led to the arrest of two men on multiple drug charges.

One of the men, Ronnie Young, 56, resisted arrest with violence, police said. He is charged with possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer with force and violence, and several traffic violations.

Grady Lewis, 53, had several arrest warrants, including one for theft and seven for traffic violations.

Both men were arrested and Young was treated for minor injuries sustained in the incident.
