The newest attraction at Walt Disney World Resort is struggling to stay open.

Weeks after opening, Disney World’s newest attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, continues to experience issues that have led to the attraction’s temporary closure several times this week.
Opening on June 28, 2024, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has become one of the most eye-catching projects ever undertaken at Disney theme parks. Many guests have praised the attraction for its bright and colorful art style, as well as its catchy soundtrack and impressive animatronics.
However, the attraction is also extremely controversial because it replaced Disney’s legendary water ride, formerly known as Splash Mountain.
Disney’s “Tiana” revamp divided fans, and many were disappointed and saddened by the news of Splash Mountain’s closure.
While park guests generally agree that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a worthy addition to the Magic Kingdom, various technical issues have limited the attraction’s ability to operate. These issues have also limited the number of guests who can actually experience the attraction on any given day, and the problems persist well into August.

After an extended period of operational issues, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closed again Tuesday morning. The My Disney Experience app was updated to reflect the closure and inform guests that the attraction was “temporarily closed.”
This is the fifth consecutive day that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is closed.
Before opening day, Disney hosted a preview event for the attraction, allowing cast members and invited guests to enjoy the attraction in advance. These previews allowed guests to get a glimpse of the new attraction, but also revealed that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure could have perhaps used a little more time in the oven.
The attraction was closed several times during the preview period and guests were evacuated from the attraction several times. During one of these evacuations, an emergency alarm was triggered as guests approached the final lift hill.
Since the preview of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, operations have improved slightly, but guests still report issues with the attraction’s lighting and sound systems and with the new animatronic figures scattered throughout the ride.

Disney officially announced Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in 2020, although work on the project reportedly began several years earlier. Using the same track layout, rides, and building structures as Splash Mountain, Walt Disney Imagineering wanted to tell an entirely new story inspired by the company’s iconic 2009 animated film. Kiss the frog.
Rumors of a possible overhaul of Splash Mountain have been circulating for some time, and the attraction has become a serious point of contention.
Although Splash Mountain achieved “legend” status in the Disney theme parks, the attraction was based on Disney’s notoriously problematic Song of the Southan animation/live action hybrid from 1946.
Disney has many more projects planned for Magic Kingdom and the rest of the Walt Disney World Resort. During the D23 event, the company will release updates on past projects and announce new rides, attractions and lands.
These announcements included confirmation of a long-rumored Villains Land, a new area inspired by Monsters Inc.. and a brand new Cars-Themed area in the Magic Kingdom.
