I know he was joking, but Joel Edgerton’s idea for Dark Matter season 2 actually makes sense

I love Joel Edgerton’s Dark matter Season 2 idea, regardless of how playful he made his story suggestion for a possible sequel. Edgerton led the Dark matter Season 1 cast every episode and featured many versions of Jason Dessen as the main version of his character tried to win back his family from a multiversal doppelgänger. Interestingly, Dark matter The end of Season 1 offers the opportunity to continue the story even though the source material has now been exhausted. However, the finale of the book and the series share a major cliffhanger.

As a big fan of Blake Crouch’s 2016 novel, I can’t wait to see if Dark matter Season 2 happensWhat fascinates me most is the fact that Apple TV+ has made many changes to the Dark matter book, including the addition of new loose ends that don’t appear in the novel. That being said, the cliffhanger from the show that I’m most excited to see resolved also appears in the book, and Edgerton’s idea would be a brilliant way to handle it.

In conversation with Decider, Edgerton discussed what Dark matter The story of season 2 could be. More specifically, he talked about what would happen to all the versions of his character who failed to achieve their goal of being reunited with Jason Dessen’s wife and son. “They could play really good pranks on everyone in the neighborhood, you know what I mean? They would all look at the house and just decide, ‘You know, I’m going out today. You stay home.’ And then they keep showing up everywhere at random times.”

I’m pretty sure Dark matterThe dark tone would not do justice to an endless series of light-hearted pranksbut I think Edgerton has the right idea here. Many of the Jasons at the time of Dark matter Finale ran out of vials, meaning they couldn’t all escape into the multiverse to seek new lives. So most would actually be trapped in what is still “their” universe, and they would all have legitimate claims to Jason’s house and his other possessions. They would have to find a way to live together, and I find the thought fascinating.

Kate Eastman’s Dark Matter character was underused in Season 1

I thought the solution of bringing a detective into the group to fix this problem was great, but Dark matterThe finale forgets to end Mason’s story arc. Instead Kate Eastman’s character just seems to disappearEven the case of Ryan Holder’s disappearance does not fully occupy Detective Mason, but she could play a much larger role as part of the Dark matter Cast of the second season.

Even if the many, many versions of Jason Dessen manage to stay hidden – which I think is a tall order – this particular world is littered with various corpses, all identical. There is also no reason to believe that some of the surviving Jasons have stopped killing other copies of themselves after Dark matter Season 1 Finale. The appearance of these bodies would certainly raise some eyebrows – including Detective Mason’s. Combine that with the fact that Jason2 was clearly a person of interest during Ryan’s disappearance, and The stage is perfect for Mason’s comeback.

Ryan’s inevitable return home means the Jasons cannot be ignored

At first I thought that if Dark matter Season 2 would take place outside of Jason’s universe. That way, the problem of the remaining Jasons wouldn’t have to be solved and could be left to the imagination, just as Crouch’s original book did. Then I realized that was incredibly unlikely. One of the biggest Dark matter The cliffhanger of the first season – and general deviations from the book – was Ryan’s encounter with Amanda in the futuristic Chicago universe. It is clear that Ryan intends to return to his original reality – that’s where all the Jasons are.

How dark matter could set a science fiction universe in motion with Blake Crouch

Although “Dark Matter” is based on an independent novel, the live-action adaptation could serve as a building block for expanding Blake Crouch’s universe.

And consequently Dark matter As hinted at in Season 2, the eventual return of Ryan (and possibly Amanda) to Jason’s original world is inevitable, so if the adaptation continues beyond the events of the book, Joel Edgerton’s character will return in a big way and this particular part of the original story will finally be addressed directly. I would like to see how all the Jasons have adapted to the shared universebut I am also a little worried about Dark matter Return to this loose thread if it’s just too weird.
