Oladejo recorded 54 tackles and two fumble recoveries in his first year in Westwood in 2023, appearing in all 13 games and starting five times. A native of Elk Grove, Calif., Oladejo finished last season with six stops in UCLA’s LA Bowl win over Boise State on Dec. 16. He totaled a season-high 10 tackles in a road game at Utah on Sept. 23. Oladejo also grabbed an interception in a 25-17 win over Washington State in the Rose Bowl on Oct. 7.
Prior to UCLA, Oladejo played 21 games for California in two seasons in 2022 and 2021. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound linebacker was second on the Golden Bears’ 2022 roster with 91 tackles.
The award’s semifinalists are expected to be announced on November 4, the finalists on November 25, and the winner by December 10. The 2024 Butkus Award winners at the high school, college and professional levels will be honored at an event scheduled for early 2025 at the University of Illinois’ Memorial Stadium during a special televised broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
The Bruins’ 2024 season begins on Saturday, August 31 at 4:30 p.m. PT when UCLA travels to Honolulu to face Hawaii. The contest will be televised on CBS. UCLA’s first home game at the Rose Bowl will be their first-ever Big Ten Conference matchup against Indiana on Saturday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m.
Eric Kendricks is the only Bruin to win the Butkus Award in its 38-year history, taking home the honor in 2014.
