President Biden rides bike path

Six-and-a-half-year-old Miriam Moskowitz stood at the end of Gordons Pond Trail with a photograph in her hand and her fingers crossed.

Two years ago, when she was just four years old, she was in the right place at the right time to take a photo with President Joe Biden on the beach.

Now she hoped that the President would stop by on his way back from a bike ride on August 11 to sign the valuable painting.

The president traveled alone, without First Lady Jill Biden, but surrounded by Secret Service agents.

“We’ve seen him every time we’ve been here for the last two years,” said Miriam’s mother, Shayna Moskowitz.

She described the day they first met the leader of the free world by chance.

“We already had everything set up and they set it up right next to us. The press corps was right there and there was a little girl in a bathing suit with the American flag. Every press (media) picked it up,” Moskowitz said.

The family from Gaithersburg, Maryland, has been trying to get the president’s autograph ever since.

For little Miriam, a signature on her photo would mean more than Biden’s John Hancock on a labor law or an international treaty.

“We asked and they said we could send it to the White House and maybe he would sign it,” Moskowitz said.

Miriam held the picture out to the President as he approached. He smiled but did not stop.

Afterwards, Miriam and her parents made their way to the beach with the skimboard in hand; the photo was still unsigned.
