Sinner dispels hip concerns ahead of Cincinnati and US Open

Sinner dispels hip concerns ahead of Cincinnati and US Open

After the game, he even went so far as to say, “Performing miracles in the next five days is not possible” and “I’m ready for Cincinnati and 100 percent there, but I don’t think that’s possible.”

Now, however, Sinner has turned around and declared that his hip is fine and he can start his Cincinnati campaign without any problems.

Sinner confident about hip condition ahead of Cincinnati

“I feel pretty good. Obviously I didn’t train for almost a week beforehand and then played two or three days in a row, a little more than usual, which might have had an impact on the hip,” Sinner said.

“But I’m not afraid. My hip feels good and I’m just looking forward to being back on the pitch.”

“We’re taking it day by day. (Monday) is my first day of training. Let’s see how it feels… I have a few days to prepare and hopefully show some good tennis.”

In his opinion, the biggest challenge for Sinner is the conditions in Cincinnati and not his own physical condition.

“I usually have a few problems playing here because of the conditions, but I’m looking forward to seeing my reaction this year because it’s a great test for me,” he explained.

“I think this tournament can give you a lot of confidence for the US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament of the year. So in my opinion this is a very important tournament.”

Sinner currently holds a 450-point lead over Carlos Alcaraz in the Race to Turin. The Spaniard has been able to close the gap after Sinner started the year by winning 25 of his first 26 matches.
