Like father, like daughter. Toby Keith’s daughter always had an unusual answer ready when people asked who her father was. She told them he was a plumber or Garth Brooks.
Speaking to Fox News, Keith’s daughter Krystal said that people asked her what her father did for a living. She told them he had a 9-to-5 job.
“I thought every dad had a job like my dad… he might as well have been a plumber,” Krystal told the outlet. “In fact, I told people that too. Later in life, when people found out who he was and then asked me a question that I knew they knew the answer to, they said, ‘What does your dad do for a living?’ I said, ‘He’s a plumber.’
She added: “And they asked, ‘What’s his name?’ And it was always Mark.”
However, she also liked to make fun of others. For example, she would tell them that her father was actually Garth Brooks.
“My second favorite idea was to say Garth Brooks because they already knew he was a singer,” she said. “They were expecting Toby Keith and I said, ‘My dad is Garth Brooks!’ I never wanted to give them what they expected.”

As for growing up with a famous father, Krystal said things weren’t much different than most people. She said she had a pretty normal childhood for the most part.
“We had an incredibly normal childhood, so it wasn’t like our lives changed drastically,” she said. “It was just that the things we could afford became a little bit different. My mom didn’t worry about where the electric bill came from. I mean, that was something we never knew about since the days when we lived in a trailer.”
“We could have been rich back then. I didn’t know the difference. We never lacked anything… we always had everything we needed,” she added.
But one thing remained true: Toby Keith was always himself.
“He stayed the same the whole time,” Krystal said. “It’s just that the people around us changed and the way they treated us and the way they talked to us about him changed. And that showed me as a kid that this is not normal; he’s not like any other father.”
