LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana (KPLC) – The former Capital One Tower, originally the CM Tower, is scheduled to be demolished at 8 a.m. Saturday, September 7.
The building’s implosion is expected to last about seven seconds. Whether you plan to watch the implosion online, on TV, or in person, we’ve got everything you need to know so you don’t miss the big moment.

KPLC will be broadcasting the demolition live on our website and mobile app. Our stream will begin 30 minutes before the scheduled demolition time. We will feature special reports and exclusive interviews on the history and demolition of the tower as we prepare to bring you the demolition live online and on air.
On air
When it’s time for the demolition, we’ll interrupt KPLC’s program to broadcast it live. Our reporters will be roaming the area, viewing the tower from various angles so you can get the best view of the tower’s collapse.
Personal
If you want to watch the implosion in person, you must stay indoors or keep a safe distance. Police and officials say they will be closely monitoring the exclusion zone on the morning of the implosion.
The exclusion zone extends from the lake to Ryan Street between Pryce and Pujo Streets and includes the Lake Charles Event Center Coliseum, Veterans Memorial Park, Chase Bank building, Erdace Apartments, Wendy’s and Bark du Lac dog park.
Anyone living or working within the exclusion zone must be home by 6:30 a.m.
Police will also patrol the lake in front of the event center. People on the water are not allowed to venture closer than 400 feet to land on that side of the lake.
Motorists are not allowed to stop and park on I-10 to watch the implosion.
The exclusion zone will remain in place until the implosion is over and police have cleared the area.
