The allegations against Cormican are based on the following.

A LeClaire School District officer attempted to stop a vehicle at mile marker 302 on westbound I-80 for following too closely, officials said.

Although the officer turned on the lights and siren, the driver continued west until he finally stopped at mile marker 296, officials said.

Officers conducted a traffic stop for a serious crime that caused westbound traffic to come to a brief halt, officials said.

Officers arrested Cormican. He was the only occupant in the vehicle, officials said.

LeClaire police were assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa DOT Highway Helper, officials said.
