The HEB location is scheduled to open in Las Colinas in 2026

Dallas County is set to open its first HEB, with the opening planned for the Las Colinas community in Irving.

In a press release Wednesday, the popular supermarket chain said the new store aims to “reaffirm the company’s commitment to North Texas.”

The opening is scheduled for late 2026. HEB has acquired a property to open another branch near Dallas, near Interstate 635 and Olympus Boulevard, the press release said.

The company said the new location will provide convenient shopping options for residents of Irving, Coppell, Grapevine and West Dallas. It is expected to create 700 jobs. As those openings become available, they will be posted on HE-B’s careers website.

“HEB has been a Texas institution for nearly 120 years and we are pleased to welcome them to Irving along with 700 new jobs for our workforce,” said Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer. “Our community offers an excellent quality of life that includes world-class amenities, and the addition of HEB underscores that with its wide range of groceries at affordable prices.”

Construction will begin in late 2024, the grocer said.

In June, HEB announced plans to build a supermarket on the Bedford-Euless border near Glade Park, with the store scheduled to open in 2026.

Collin County, north of Dallas, had its first HEB in Plano, which opened on November 1, 2022. The North Texas region also has HEBs in other cities, including Fort Worth, Mansfield, Frisco, McKinney, Allen and Burleson. The store also plans new franchises in Rockwall, Melissa and Prosper, according to the press release. Construction on a location in Forney is scheduled to begin in July 2024.

The grocery chain operates more than 435 stores in Texas and Mexico. HE-B, based in San Antonio, is celebrating its 119th anniversary this year.
